" The LiveRead/Lab was such an awesome experience. I can definitively say that I walked out of the lab a much better writer than when I walked in. The environment was supportive and fun and the assignments were challenging and exciting. This lab will allow you to take risks and push you to really dig deep and get to the emotional core of your writing. I would recommend this to any writer who wants to grow and take their writing to the next level." - Nick A.

Emotional connection is a crucial ingredient in any successful script, but it’s so rarely discussed or explored in a workshop environment.
LiveRead/Lab changes that! In our 6-week program, a small group of writers are given innovative exercises designed to dive deeper into the emotional and creative aspects of writing, then professional actors read EVERYTHING written. We follow these readings with constructive feedback sessions, where everyone has a voice in a collaborative safe space. Each class is moderated by LRLA Director, Tim Schildberger, an experienced writer and highly regarded script consultant. Think of it as a “Writer’s Gym.” You’ll write new material, engage fresh ideas, hear your words read by talented actors, and explore what really fuels your passion for writing. Our goal is to help you be more fearless and confident connecting your characters and stories with your audience.

"Live Read/LA has been essential in taking my writing from “hobby" to serious career focus. From day one I found a new level of motivation and excitement for the craft. This is the only workshop that was able to unblock and fully unleash my creativity. In addition to all this good stuff, the group was/is supportive in a relaxed-professional way. The guidance from Tim is incredibly valuable.
Three words: Playful - Professional - Productive." - Suzanne M.

"The LRLA Writers Lab is exactly what all screenwriters in LA need. I searched for years for a screenwriters group that could incorporate a safe environment, a place to grow and stretch, with access to qualified and significant feedback, and all within a community of driven talent. Surprisingly, Los Angeles has been deprived of such a place-- until now. I highly, HIGHLY recommend LRLA Writers Lab for any serious screenwriter looking for a place to grow and reach their potential." - Paul C.

The lab is like a creativity jump start. Instead of overthinking and second guessing, you have to find a way to emotionally connect to your idea and your characters and see where they take you. I was surprised by how quickly the lab group felt like a “safe space” where we could all take risks without judgement, and receive thoughtful and constructive feedback. Writers of any level, novice to pro, could greatly benefit from this lab." - Michelle F.

"The LiveRead team have created a lab that is designed to give your writing the emotional depth that will take it from good to great."
- Ari A.

"Going into this workshop, I had no idea what to expect but it exceeded all expectations. Tim managed to create a fun and safe environment in a great setting in which to experiment and stretch your limits as a writer without ever losing sight of the all-important emotional connection to the work you're producing. Very highly recommended to anyone interested in honing their craft and meeting like-minded people." - Kimon K.
